Achilles Love

Achilles Love

The film focuses on Achilles “Ike” Mannis, a modern mid-thirties Greek-American insurance salesman who has inherited his late father’s small company. It has recently been acquired by a large, New York based conglomerate. This gives Ike a new boss, and a man whose MBA inspired business tactics don’t sit well with Ike’s out dated code of honest,, reputable old world ethics.

One of Ike’s lifelong friends is Conan Charles, a handsome and wealthy malpractice attorney who at one time was a good hearted fellow. But exposure to the modern business and dating worlds forced Conan to choose a more predatory business and dating ethic than his pal Ike. The two friends have many spirited and amusing discussions about modern women and dating strategies during the film.

When Ike’s current flame leaves him for another man in a funny and embarrassing public manner, he meets lovely next door neighbor Lucy Boxwell the same evening. Lucy is director of a struggling modern dance company, who’s own amusing romantic travels lead her current paramour to try winning her back by dancing semi-nude on Lucy’s front lawn. When Ike is awakened by this spectacle, it allows him to meet the love of his life in a witty and amusing way, setting the tone for the entire film.

When best friend Conan meets Lucy the next night at a charity benefit, he offers Lucy the promise of a badly needed donation to save her struggling dance troupe and all its employees. In a rich romantic adventure that encompasses an outdoor Greek festival, a baseball game, museums, a charming Greek cafe and a final dance competition, this romantic romp offers a delightful picture the whole family will enjoy.
